OUR VISION & MISSION

We exist to connect people in a relationship with Jesus through the cross and resurrection, to a community of faith, and to the truths of Jesus that set us free. These connections lead us to experience healing and to develop into players in God's mission.

Our mission is founded upon the Great Commission and the two greatest commandments given to all believers by Jesus Himself:

“Jesus said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

— Matthew 28:18-20

“Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

— Matthew 22:34-40

The Big 5 are 5 faith practices to which we devote ourselves. Over the years, we have observed and personally experienced that healthy followers of Jesus are actively engaged in all 5 faith practices on a regular basis.

The Big 5 are not something we created. They are practices that are found in scripture and were an important part of the New Testament church described in Acts 2:41-47. In this passage, we find the five faith practices to which the Acts 2 church committed themselves. Franklin Community Church strongly identifies itself with the structure of this New Testament Church.

The Acts 2 Church was committed to at least five faith practices that we are committed to also.

We devote ourselves to Biblical Teaching, to Fellowship, to Prayer, to Worship, and to Service to others.
